Strength In Diversity
In 2017, the town of Moosomin adopted a new slogan, Strength In Diversity
The slogan represents Moosomin’s unique position as a diverse and vibrant community.
Moosomin has a diverse population, with much of the growth coming from new immigrants from around the world. Our community includes many new immigrants in recent years from the Philippines, South Africa, Latin America, South Korea, Ukraine, Russia, and elsewhere in the world. Many of our new immigrants have become entrepreneurs and business owners, and have added to the strength and vitality of our community!
Moosomin is in a unique position, with a strong and growing business sector anchored by potash, oil and gas, agriculture, and manufacturing.
The PotashCorp Rocanville mine is located a short drive north of Moosomin, and many Moosomin residents work for both PotashCorp Rocanville and Mosaic Esterhazy.
The oil and gas sector is active in the area, and the Enbridge pipeline 20km south of Moosomin and the TransCanada pipeline 10 km north of Moosomin add to the local economy. The Energy East proposal would include a major development at TransCanada’s Moosomin compressor station.
Agriculture is strong in the area, and many Moosomin businesses serve the agriculture community, including all the major implement lines, and fertilizer and chemical dealers.
Manufacturing is growing, with many local people working at Seed Hawk in Langbank, a manufacturer of agricultural implements, and new manufacturers like IJACK, which manufactures hydraulic lift systems for the oilfield.
On top of that, Moosomin’s position on the Trans-Canada Highway near beautiful Moosomin Lake has led to a boom in tourism and service industries, with three new hotels and several restaurants being opened in recent years.
Moosomin’s diverse population and diversified economy leads to boundless opportunities for development. Many companies are investing in the future of Moosomin. Sharpe’s Soil Services and P&H completed major expansions of their opertations at Moosomin in 2017. Borderland Co-op opened a new 25,500 square foot home centre in 2017. Mazergroup is developing an expanded dealership in Moosomin to open in 2018, and a new Chrysler dealership will open in 2018 as well. There are many opportunities to build on Moosomin’s Strength in Diversity.
